all make the level sensor "unlevel"(if there is such a word). Its very hard to detect while driving, because you are concentrating on driving(I hope!) and not the lights. Try coming to a stop at night VERY fast and you might see the lights reposition themselves.
I don't understand why I am getting these faults all of a sudden as the car has been sat for 5 days and hasn't even moved. I did a scan with VAG-COM and threw up the following errors below: Address 01: Engine (J623-CAGA) Labels: 03L-906-022-CAG.clb. Part No SW: 03L 906 022 JM HW: 03L 906 022 B.
Umm, get new headlights for like $ 300.00 from eBaymotors or somewhere that are HID Xenon and Auto-Leveling and whala. Had same issues, now its fixed with new headlights. Make sure its Auto-Leveling HID's, if not than it wont fix ****
Turns out the levelling sensor was cracked and wire , hit by stones when driving up a forest track. Do you get a beep and headlight warning light on dash as well? I believe the sensor is located on the drivers side front control arm near the brakes / hub but slightly behind . My b7 was the passenger side tho. They are cheap and easy to replace .
Re: Headlight Level Sensor - 2008 A4 – 30-11-2016, 12:12 AM I rung earlier there and got chatting to the tester, he's adamant it was 'hanging off' - which it clearly isn't. And I haven't touched it either or there would be marks in the dirt on it.
. Both fault codes came back for short to plus for both headlight level sensors. If I have a broken wire somewhere it's gotta be common to both sensors. The only time I see that is one they are at the module (J431). Looks like power is supplied to J431 then a 5volt reference is sent to each sensor from J431.
My headlights are aimed very low. Someone suggested looking to see if the sensors wires are broken or maybe bending the bracket up so the sensor is level. I runned the scan with VAG COM and didn't found any faults. Thanks. I'll have look tomorrow. As suspected sensor arm on rear axle was broken.
